3. Teach, Promote and Expect Respect & Good Manners of all Involved.
Under the guidance and support of the members of the Rio Grande Division 6 of the Rocky Mountain Region of the National Model Railroad Association the Club was started in 2014 as the Rio Grande Model Railroad Club and has evolved into the Youth in Model Railroading Albuquerque Division.
Meetings and Events: The Division currently meets on the 2nd Saturday morning of each month at the Christ United Methodist Church on Gibson Ave SE. The members also participate at 4 or 5 train shows each year. At the Rails Along the Rio Grande 2023 show the Division will feature an 11’X30’ modular HO SW layout plus displays of pizza layouts and other model railroad projects.
Who can join? Boys and Girls ages 5 to 17 are welcome to join. Since this is a family activity, a parent or adult sponsor must be with the child at all times.
How much does it cost? We ask that parents or adult sponsors make a $5 activity donation per child when they arrive for meetings. This income helps offset the cost of supplies and various activities. Your child can bring their own trains or use YMR trains to run on our layouts.
How does my child get started? Email Al Hovey, Assistant Conductor at alhovey@comcast.net and ask for a “starter packet” of information (2 pages) and he will add your names to the member list so that you will receive all emails from the Division. If you have questions, just ask Mr. Hovey
